I’ve been designing my home in my head since I was 12 years old–cutting pictures out of magazines and tacking them into a long-lost notebook. Now that I’m all grown up (kind of) I finally have a house of my own and my passion for making it pretty hasn’t gone away.
My husband and I were married in September 2011 and closed on our house in October– two pretty big life changes that have made me incredibly happy. I’m lucky that I married a man who doesn’t cringe when I say “I have an idea…”, trusts me when he knows I have a vision, and is perfectly willing to pick up a paintbrush to help bring that vision to life.
I believe that every project is more rewarding when you do it yourself (but I’m not afraid to ask for help in executing the ideas in my head). I think that a home should be a reflection of the people who live in it (and I’m having so much fun making that happen in our house). I’m just as likely to reuse what we’ve got as I am to try to make it myself or buy something (I think the most authentically beautiful spaces involve all three).
Why Beefore & After
? Not because I’m bad at spelling, I swear. Because I used to write a little blog called BumbleBeeRunning
, and that bee has grown to represent everything that I am: wife, new homeowner, aspiring writer, lover of organization, master of the to-do list, wannabe interior decorator, photography novice, coffee addict, book nerd. And a little bumble bee that’s always going to go on flying…and running…and painting. And because I love creating lovely before & afters to share with the world.
