Gone are the days when travelling meant throwing a few things in a carry-on bag and whistling my way to the departure gate. But over the years of travelling with two small kids I’ve discovered that there are some gadgets that can make travelling with children so much easier. Other are less essential but things we just like! Here, we bring you our new Travel Gadgets & Gizmos We Like series.
Aesop Resurrection Rinse-Free Hand Wash
Falling firmly into the “non-essential but I really love” category is this rinse-free hand wash from Australian skincare brand Aesop. Years of living in India means that I’m now slightly obsessed about having some kind of hand sanitizer on me at all times. Until now, however, I’ve been reliant on the chemically scented ones you find in your local chemist. This new edition of Aesop Hand Wash, on the other hand, smells beautiful with aromas of orange, rosemary, cedar wood and lavender. It comes in 50ml containers making it hand luggage and flight friendly. My other favourite new find is Aesop’s Jet Set Kit that includes four carry-on companions.

This booster seat that turns into a backpack is not only one of my travel essentials but something that we use every day in the car at home. It’s spacious and hand luggage approved making it ideal for my kids to carry all their toys onto the airplane. It then transforms into a booster seat when we get to our destination. It’s particularly good for travelling in countries such as India or Sri Lanka where car seats are not always readily available.

4-in-1 Travel Adaptor
I’m forever leaving home without the right adaptor (or any adaptor at all). Just this week I had to put my US plug into a UK one before putting it into a French adaptor so that I could charge my laptop. The result? A worryingly hot computer that made a strange buzzing sound. This 4-in-1 Travel Adaptor looks like it could solve all my plug-in problems. It's a set of colour-coded plugs that comes with 4 different plugs allowing you to adapt to over 150 countries. Now all I need to do is remember to pack it!

Usborne Sticker Books
Sticker books are a winner in our household and my kids can spend hours on them. Particular popular with my two are the Usborne Sticker Dressing books that cover everything sports to pirates, princesses to action heroes. Each book comes with 150 – 250 colourful stickers, authentic costumes and a little bit of historical background too. Sticker Dressing Apps for the iPad are also available. Perfect for flights, train journeys, rainy days and filling time before your order arrives when you’re out to eat.
