Today I was at a friend's baby party (she imports fantastic clothing, books and toys from the UK and sells them here in Berlin at great prices) and instead of my usual coming along, eating the food, drinking the drink and then leaving, I actually dipped my hand into my pocket and bought a few items this time thanks to a good few sales at my shop this week. I purchased two Bob the Builder books for Milo (he giggled when he first saw them and was thrilled!!!) and a book with shapes and pictures of food (what could be more perfect?!) and for me (and in a round about way, also for Milo), I bought Annabel Karmel's 'Top 100 Finger Foods' which was full of sumptious looking photos and mouth watering receipes.
I've been a bit slack with my cooking of late and so I have been pushing myself to get back to preparing more. With Milo getting his main meal of the day at Kita (daycare/nursery), I often just make him something light in the evenings like cutting up some cherry tomatoes, cucumber, pepper and mozarella and giving it all with a dip.
This evening however I decided to actually put my oven to good use and thus 'Tasty Treat Tryouts' was born. I am going to attempt each week to tryout a new receipe from the various cookbooks I have on my bookshelf and I will take photos of the steps and then let you know the outcome.
This week: Homemade Potato Wedges.
Yes I know this is something super simple and I've no doubt that everyone reading this blog has made these a 100-fold with their eyes closed but this was a first for me and I took the challenge with pride! Here's the result...
