Parents of Multiples Need A Great Carpet Steamer And Sense Of Humor
Let me start out by sharing that I can't even count how many times we have used our carpet steamer and hard wood floor steamer to clean up poop.
One of the worst was one of our kids ended up scooting down the stairs on his naked poopy butt. I can't even tell you what the context was anymore. It was maybe six months ago and I think I found it easier to block that one out. All I can say is that laughter and a really great carpet steamer came in handy.
Many times my husband and I play the game of trying not to openly notice something (usually when it is something gross like a poopy diaper) regarding one of our kids that needs attention in hopes that the other one will notice it and therefore tend to the situation.
This morning I "won" this game. My husband will learn that I "won" when he reads this.
I went to get our kids out of their room this morning. We have a child safety lock on the inside of their door so that they can't get out of their room during the night or the morning and have a flour fight all over our house. (Anyone see that video that went viral on YouTube. Hilarious. Glad it didn't happen to us.)
So anyways, as I'm walking towards their room this morning it reeked. I was beginning to gag as I opened their door. Our youngest triplet says, "I'm poopy." I think very quickly. I hadn't even had my coffee yet. I said to him, "Go tell daddy. He's downstairs." :) So he wobbled off the way you do when you have a pull up filled with nasty poop.
Then I stalled, I mean, "took my time" saying good morning to our other two triplets before walking downstairs with them. When we got to the top of the stairs I listened to confirm that daddy was taking care of the nasty smelling, extremely poopy situation.
I'm so thankful that he hadn't left for work already and that he is such a sweet dad and husband that he didn't try to play "the game" on me this time and that he took care of our sweet, poopy son.
So now let's talk about the importance of a carpet steamer. I apologize for being so graphic, but it's the only way to explain what really happened this morning. So apparently, as our son lied down on the carpet to be changed a river of liquidity poop gushed out. This is what my husband said.
It's one of those times we wish he had laid a towel or blanket on the floor before changing him. It was also one of those times where we are thankful to be renting.
Anyone want to come over for a play date?
Anyways, the carpet steamer is amazing and thankfully cleaned everything beautifully!
Laughing has saved us so many times. My husband and I have laughed about it all day and will laugh again as soon as he reads this post and finds out that I played "the game" this morning and won.
I'm sure I won't be so lucky next time, especially after writing this.
Laughing a lot and a sense of humor is the one thing we could not live without as parents of multiples.
