Good morning all.
Thanks to my good friend, Robin, I am now a bonafide member of BlogHer.
We got together last Wednesday with our phones and computers - she in Rockville, MD and I in Cooperstown, NY and she talked me through the intricacies of signing up and choosing a password, etc. Robin is an excellent teacher - very patient, and I soon caught on.
Cooperstown, New York is famous for Lake Otsego
and the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Now comes the fun part. Getting to know all you outstanding women and being able to correspond with you.
Robin has told you about me in her "Springs Grace" blog. There is not much to add, except that she has given me more credit than is due.
Living to be 90 is just the luck of the draw. I have inherited good genes and for that I have my mother and my Portuguese ancesters to thank. My mother almost made it to her 102nd birthday, so I'm counting on at least 12 more good years. My three children, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren are counting on those genes, too.
I worked at the New York State Historical Association's
Fenimore House for many years.
But please don't equate longevity with wisdom. I don't have any pearls of wisdom to pass on. I just lived my life as it came along and grasped the opportunities that presented themselves.
This is Abner Doubleday Field, named for the alleged
creator of baseball and my cat, Abner Doubleday.
Living in Cooperstown afforded many opportunities that would not be available to me if I had lived elsewhere.
But those are stories for another time.
