Before heading to Chicago I was faced with the issue of probably having to dump all my pumped milk. Trying to travel with all of it was going to be way to difficult and it would most likely go bad.
I tried to get something set up with BlogHer themselves for donating pumped milk but it was literally 3 days before the conference so it was too little too late - next year I will be on that a lot sooner. When I brought it up in a group I found a lot of mommies were wanting to donate their milk.
I hopped on the Eats on Feets via their fb and posted that I would be in Chicago and would have milk to donate. I ended up nailing down a plan with a super sweet mamma of one adorable little girl.
She came all the way to my hotel to pick up what I had pumped. When I walked into the lobby I saw a girl with a cooler and made a bee line towards her hoping it was actually who I was meeting. I smiled and thanked her for letting me donate and then smothered her with a hug.
She then melted my heart. She asked me if I wanted to meet her daughter in the car. When I got to the car she said to her daughter "do you want to meet your milk mamma"
um cue the freaking tears y'all
I tried to hold her but she like my Dodger was having none of that and only wanted her mommy so we snapped a pic.
I am so excited I had a chance to do this. It made missing Dodger a little less painful and made my breastfeeding adventure even more meaningful.
If I had the opportunity I absolutely would donate again.
