We are already half way done with day two and I haven’t had a chance to change the calendar from November to December. Speaking of November, you can go back and check out which goals were accomplished and which ones I failed to get done here. Although they weren’t all accomplished, having simple goals have kept me focused.
December is a notoriously busy month. Okay, okay. I know I say that about every month but this month is busy on crack. This months goals are designed to keep us focused on the reason for the season, Jesus.December Goals:
1.) Scripture Christmas Countdown: I wanted to find a way to teach my kids the real reason why we celebrate Christmas with the same excitement they have counting down the days until Santa comes. This year everyday when we change our countdown block we will read a pre-designated scripture.
2.) Random Acts of Kindness: The kids have been working hard on a list of things we can do for our friends and strangers. We will be implementing them throughout the month. I’m hoping this will continue to instill a servant’s heart during what could easily be a very selfish month. Have you seen television commercials lately? Sickening.
3.) Have a Cookie Decorating Party: I am really working on getting better at fellowship. I am a loner and prefer to avoid the masses. However it is important to me to demonstrate hospitality to our kids. Since we already decorate cookies every year, I figure we could just invite a few more people over to join the fun. Baby steps, right?
4.) Run a Race: I was supposed to be on track to do a 15k but yadda yadda yadda I may not be ready. Instead of throwing in the towel altogether I need to embrace the setback and keep going.
5.) Enjoy Christmas Break with the Kids: Our weather is finally enjoyable. I hope to spend as much time outside and in the moment while they are off for their two-week Christmas break.
Keep in mind on top of these goals my son has baseball practice two times a week with a game every Saturday, my daughter has softball practice twice a week and is starting tournament games this week, there is a choir concert happening in the middle of the month, a very special day for Kaiden and Karisa will be happening in a few weeks (details to come later), Mr. C’s birthday is this month, the kids want to go see Santa and we already have three invitations to friends birthday parties. Plus, I am sure I am forgetting a few things. Busy on crack may be an understatement. What are your December goals?
