I've been feeling a little crummy about the time I've spent with the boys lately. Mostly because I've been glued to my computer. Which means, I've left Graham in front of the television or his own computer games, and I've left Will to torture his brother. Not the best parenting, I admit. But, I've been buried under work, and that's how I've been able to manage.
Regardless of my guilt, I've been looking for a way to make my kids feel a little more special, which is why when Graham mentioned that it was Green Bear's birthday, I felt it needed to be celebrated. Green Bear is Graham's lovie and is a special member of the family. Apparently, he's five today, so an impromptu party was in order.
I brought down some party hats, pulled out some cookies from the freezer, and threw a bash. Graham made a card for Green Bear with his daddy, and Graham has informed me that there are three "rules" for the party: stories, cookies, and playing. Sounds good to me.
In all of the hubbub that has become my life, I'm so glad I have my children to remind me of the importance of the little things. Like celebrating the birthday of your favorite childhood stuffed animal. Happy Birthday Green Bear! Thank you for snuggling with my first baby and making him feel safe at night. No one can do it like you can! Happy Fifth!
