Happy Earth Day everyone! On this day that is about environmental protection and sustainability, I've been thinking about changes I need/want to make in my life and routine. Here are some of my Earth Day resolutions:
Ditch plastic water bottles-
In a post a few weeks ago where I gave you a glimpse into my diaper bag
, and revealed my bad habit of buying plastic water bottles and drinking them daily. I use stainless steel water bottles for my kids, and I'm going to do my best to convert! A big thank you to Klean Kanteen
for helping me make the switch!
Grow more food in my garden- We started a couple raised beds last year with a small variety of fruits and veggies and I'm looking forward to growing more. Not only is it a good way to reduce your carbon footprint (and your spending), its also a great way to get the kids involved. My son loved helping with "his" garden last year.
Waste less- I admit it, I have a problem with food waste. Not something I'm proud of and something I've been working on... I don't love left overs, and I tend to make way to much of everything. I'm working on making less, freezing portions, more creative ways to serve leftovers. Beyond that, I also want to look into and start composting on some level.
Stop buying plastics baggies-
I'm already close on this one.. I have great containers like yumbox
and lots of reusable snack bags
that eliminate the need for plastic, but I still find myself buying plastic baggies and reaching for them when I'm in a rush.
Keep plenty of reusable grocery bags in the car- I' aware this is this easiest one on here... and I have really good intentions on this one, but often find myself at the store with only a few or no bags. In the process of unpacking groceries, the bags don't always find it back to my car where they belong.. I need to work on new system.
Yes, I realize these aren't huge changes, but every little bit helps right. I know there are more, and this list should (and will) grow but these are steps that I want to take and know I can make happen now. Small steps to help with sustainability and set a good example for my kids. Do you have any Earth Day resolutions?
Thanks as always for stopping by and reading!
