are cute lunches? I was wondering around the wonderful world of pinterest yesterday and something caught my eye. I had no idea that there were moms spending a ton of time making their child's school lunches cute. They made shapes with cookie cutters. They made fruit look like different animals. They even had a whole lunch where all of the food looked like minions from the movie "Despecible Me". (think banana).
They even had different computer templates for cute lunch box notes that you could print off. I think when I was little my mom wrote one lunch box note a year and that was on my birthday. Now you can print one off and put one in the kid's lunch everyday. (I'm sure it will still be super special to the kid in May).
Now at first I thought, "Why on earth would anyone want to spend the time to make a bag lunch cute." My kids are picky eaters already. I can just see my daughter saying. "I'm tired of "Despecible Me" lunches can you make a "Peg + Cat" one? I did not major in art or cooking so no, I can't. My first thought was, a kid does not need a special theme lunch with lunch note everyday.
And then I saw something at Walgreens that changed everything. Many of the fancy school lunch moms on pinterest use these box contraptions called Bento boxes. They remind me of the old fashioned TV dinner trays with the separate compartments. Only this tray is made of eco friendly, BPA free material that you can use in the dishwasher and the microwave. And, it was purple. I was sold.
So now I am on pinterest in search of the perfect lunches to put in my daughter's new Bento box. Maybe I'll even throw in a special handmade note.
