That Awkward Moment when kids catch their parents SEXTING
Have you ever said or done something drastic in the heat of the moment? You know what I mean.... Have you ever responded to a situation - instantly, without thinking first - because you freaked out in the heat of the moment? I did a few days ago and am now dealing with the consequences of freaking out.
It was an especially emotional day for my daughter. She was in a really bad mood so I went to the store, bought popcorn & chocolate and put in a chick flick for both of us to watch together. It was going to be mother/daughter bonding at it's finest. I grabbed pillows, our treats & we both hopped on my bed for maximum comfort. The plan was to get rid of the bad mood she was in, cheering her up with Bridget Jones Diary.
Right as we were starting the movie, I texted my husband. About 2 seconds after pushing my SEND button I heard his phone go off on the nightstand about an arms length away from my daughter. She glanced down and I jumped ...no, I pounced over her, going air born to grab his phone before she saw my text. I grabbed the phone so fast and hard, it ripped the charger it was still attached to right out of the wall. I heard, "What on Earth!? You scared the crap out of me!?" as I landed in a heap on the floor. "Why are you texting dad? Is that text about me?!"
It was the heat of the moment. I didn't take the time to think of a good reason for looking like an Olympian competing in Pole Vaulting but without the pole. My 20 year old daughter wanted to see the text. All my brain was thinking was"DON'T PISS HER OFF! What would make her NOT want to see the text I just send her father?"
The whole incident took only a few seconds. I said the first thing that came into my head and held out the phone for her to take. This is what happened when I don't take the time to think before I speak.

This is what happened when I don't take the time to think before I speak. I took the phone into the office, handed it to my husband and went back to watch the movie, sending the following texts.....
She pulled her hand back and shouted "EEwwwww! Grosssss!"
I could hear my brain mocking me; "What did you just say?! How is telling your daughter THAT, worse then calling her fussy? Brilliant. ....just brilliant June."
To bad my mind doesn't have an Auto-Correct.
