On my quest to find Big Curvy Love I’ve thrown my plus-size panties in the ring and begun online dating. Trawling through profiles of my future lovers is fun but building my own profile is like plucking  that ingrown hair after a Brazilian. Here’s what I’ve learned so far about plus-size online dating.

Hump #1-  The BODY TYPE

As a curvy girl your box is either large, overweight, large-ish, heavy, or has ‘a few extra pounds’. Checking any of these can mean a  filtering out  of men whom only choose ‘slim, athletic or average.’ Even if he checks his preference for body type  ‘doesn’t matter’  in his profile text the words ‘takes care of herself’ often pop up which is code for slim  and not soft and squishy. This is actually a good thing as a lot of the work is done for us as these guys filter themselves out of our dating pool. As long as you check the box that is true for you then your job is done!

We all want to look sexy-as-hell and instantly attract man traffic to our plus-size profile but here’s where being current is key.  Sure, accentuate your favourite fluffy features but for your own sake please don’t just upload face only pics.  Make sure the photo has been taken in the last couple of months not 5 years old and 30kg/lbs ago! You and he want to get-what-you-see in the pictures. Also, make sure to post a full body shot. Your killer curves will attract the right guy and have him falling over himself to meet you.

Just to be perfectly clear I like to put it out there in the headline actually using the words “Plus-size.” Since online dating is all about “churn and burn” until you find the right man I don’t want to  waste my time turning up to dates with guys who aren’t really interested in my beautiful big booty. It’s such a small part of dating and finding the right fit.

Suggestions to get HUMPIN’

There are plenty of plus-size specific dating sites but that doesn’t mean you have to limit yourself to them, since a lot of sites are free why not spread yourself around online and find your fav? I’m not a fan of back-and-forth on e-mail so if I like someone I make a date for a coffee or a drink in a public place and go from there. 30 minutes in person is a lot more valuable to me than a month online. I know some gals like to develop a relationship online first or talking on the phone so whatever works for you girlfriend. Go get it.
