Today was the first day of school. All in all, the day went off without any problems. Well, as far as I can see.
Today I experienced something new. The majority of my students knew who I was before I introduced themselves. I'm not going to lie, I felt a bit like a celebrity.
"You had my older sister!"
"You had my cousin last year. You were his favorite!"
"My brother said your class was easy as long as you did what you were supposed to."
I have to say, it felt kind of good. It was fun to connect the dots about why some of the students looked a bit familiar.
This is going to be a good year. It always feels good to have a good start. Even though we were two days late, we still had a fantastic start to the year. It's time to hit the ground running and get moving on this new curriculum!
I'd write more, but the first day is always the most exhausting.
