As soon as I hung up the phone with my husband, Marc, I walked over to a friend’s desk at work. “Seriously, between the hurricane, the renovations, and this place it will be a miracle if I don’t end up in the loony bin.”
“What happened now?” she asked.
“I just got off the phone with Marc. He just got home as the tile guy was leaving the house. The guy reminded Marc that we couldn’t walk in the kitchen and dining room because he just mudded. Marc checked that we could walk through the den and the guy said yes.”
“Then the tile guy proudly told Marc that he locked the den sliding door from the inside.”
“Don’t tell me,” my friend commented, as she read my mind.
“Um, yeah! You got it! We don’t have a key!”
“So Marc told him this, and the guy said that if we walk on it we’ll ruin it. He’d have to redo tomorrow. Marc didn’t want to waste another day, so we are going to sleep at my next-door neighbor’s house tonight. Seriously, this is like the fifth bed I have slept in this month!”
“You know there are names for girls like you,” she joked.
Laughing, I replied, “Yeah, I know… But at least I have slept with the same boy!”
I hope you and your families have a very Merry Christmas!
