One of the places I’ve wanted to go with the hubby since we’ve been married is Puerto Rico. My ex took me there and it was such a great experience for me touring, I wanted to share it with hubby2. I wasn’t really keen on driving all over the island again like I did with hubby1, but I sure wanted Michael to see how beautiful it was in that part of the Caribbean.
So in the fall of 2010, I planned our first trip to San Juan. Unfortunately, I was pretty much messed up and unable to do much other than lay by the pool. That was fine, we didn’t mind too much. After all the average daily temperature is 82 and both of us love relaxing and vacationing without rules.
My neurosurgeon was pretty much against the trip and felt that I needed to have corrective surgery asap before I caused any more injury to my spine. You know how much trips cost and the anticipation that builds prior to a trip and certainly in a million years you don’t expect to be unable to make it. I said no to the doctor, that we would do the vacation first, and surgery when I came home. I’m glad we did. It was the calm before the storm I needed in order to stay positive throughout my recovery.
We had a long weekend, at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan. We laid by the pool during the day and played in the casino at night. We met a nice couple from Brooklyn that we went out for dinner with. I was using a cane... (now I can walk normally without a cane!)
Yeah, I was pretty bummed out that I couldn’t take him to old San Juan, and El Yunque. I was also sad that we couldn’t golf. Imagine golf in Puerto Rico.
Well, our dreams are coming true. I have pretty much completely healed from my fusion and nothing really hurts except my hands and fingers but that doesn’t affect me from traveling and sight seeing and photo walking and just being a normal tourist. I can hardly wait.
This time, we are morning playing Trump National Championship Course. Good lord remind me to pack 2 dozen balls. And my golf shoes and a glove and some long tees.
We are golfing at Trump National!!! woo hoo! How’s that for a place to ease myself back into the game? You know I’ll have my camera along. The gal in the pro shop said every hole is on the ocean. Can you imagine how beautiful it is? Oh maybe we should play closer to sunset. Maybe we’ll go the next day around sunset. We are renting clubs since it is such a hassle to travel with clubs and luggage. Trump National has Taylor Mades for rent, that will work for me and Michael!
El Yunque is in the plans this trip. We are renting a car so we can drive around. I bought the 11 dollar a day insurance because people drive like maniacs in Puerto Rico. That and the fact that when the ex turned it down and got laughed at by the car rental agent. I guesscollisions are normal. I sure hope not!
So expect at least one blog post while we are gone and lots of photos when we come home. :)
