Volunteering my time is one of the most rewarding ways I help others. Days leading up to the actual participation, I do complain and dread the event. (That pertains to any activity that involves manual labor though.) Once I am engaged in the activity the dread fades. A sense of pride and joy fills my soul. Seeing the smiles on the faces of the people I am helping makes all the struggles and challenges I have to face disappear. Yes, I do complain about the pain in my back or the tired feeling I have after the volunteering too. The point is I was there and participated. Many people volunteer occasionally for publicity or attention. Not me, I do it out of Love for my community and the people in it!
I have always volunteered and donated to charitable organizations and those in need. Since an early age, I have instilled this unto my children as well. There are a total of Six Charities we donate money and items too. Each one of these organizations holds a special meaning to one or more of us. Right now, we are helping the Daily Bread Community Kitchen and Central Services collect food during Hunger Action Month. I am working with the PTOs of my children’s schools to set up food drives. Also I am speaking with the local businesses on behalf of these organizations. This will be my second year doing this.
