US Airways' Social Media Team Had a VERY Bad Day

US Airways committed the blunder of all Twitter blunders today, when someone on its social media team tweeted something inappropriate. I don't even know if I can tell you what it was, because my mother-in-law tells me not to share anything on the Internet that I wouldn't tell my grandma. And I simply cannot imagine telling my grandmother that US Airways tweeted a photo of a model airplane in a vagina. I can't imagine telling her that. Then again, she called to tell me when she read Fifty Shades of Grey, so maybe this would be payback. Whatever the case: No one is having a worse day than US Airways' social media and PR teams are right now.

Our editorial team was in a meeting when the tweet went down, or up, or... sideways, as it were. As I was telling my bosses about the tweet, they made the mistake of Googling it to look for the tweet that has since been taken down. Bad choice, bosses. Why? SO VERY NSFW.

And then the jokes started flying—SEE WHAT I DID THERE?—and didn't stop.

US Airways apologized for the tweet after they removed it, claiming they would be investigating. I'd like to be a fly on that wall. I mean, how does this happen? AND WHY DID THAT PICTURE EXIST ANYWAY?

Now excuse me—I have to go read more jokes on Twitter.
