Long day, too tired to find the stats. I fit in there, somewhere.
Born: Inglewood, CA (East Los, mm hmm); raised, San Diego County; Latina; Mexicana; Chicana; mestiza. Proud lesbian parent, since 1980. "Declared" disabled, since 1996 (sequelae from encephalitis in 1984). Four children, all healthy, thank you. Single parent. Dating (who cares). Sole source of income: SSI. Education: High school dropout; BA, UCSD; MA, CU Boulder; doctoral work and second MA, Stanford; dissertation and Ph.D, CU Boulder.
Progress today: got my youngest enrolled in Head Start (I think), so I'll have time to write and produce; finished most of an article on the Obama hate crimes bill; made some headway on my essay on Chicanisma; taught my youngest to make corn bread; made appointment for my youngest to have five-year-old immunizations; heard gratitude from a friend who was successful in applying for food stamps, in another state (so many people are stymied by the fact that the applications ask for information about people in the "household," and do not know that this refers only to themselves and the people they feed, ay); helped my youngest's coparent figure out what to do about the child's birthday cake for this weekend; cleaned the kitchen; had an extensive conversation with my little one about hate crimes; reviewed an article to reprint; cleaned the bathroom; texted extensively with older daughter; created a spectacular vegetarian dinner for my child out of next to nothing; created hierarchical directories of manuscripts for publication; remembered to eat; read a book to the child; fielded phone calls; stayed fairly hydrated.
Not enough. Must start earlier, gain greater focus tomorrow. Appointment with Head Start at 1 p.m. will throw off my game. Ay . . .
