Shorty -Shorty-Shorty!!

Can you believe that it is already almost the end of 2012?  Where has the time gone?  It does seem to be true that the older you get the faster the time goes- why is that?

I have returned from my vacation – I am still trying to catch up on my sleep.  My son was able to come visit me and we are having the best visit ever!  This Christmas has been extra blessed that is for sure!  We had a good time inSouth Carolina.  I stood in the ocean.  I took off my shoes and actually stood in the water! That was the neatest thing for me. I have not ever been to the ocean.  I was on a cruise in college and was in theCaribbeanbut did not really get in the water there so this was a first.  I have decided my family and I need to all save our money and go back down there and rent a house or a condo and spend a week at the beach!  I am ready to go back!  It was pretty windy the day Thomas and I went and it was a pretty cold wind as it was coming right off the water.  The seagulls were all standing on the beach all looking out to sea as if they were all in the line to get some fresh fish.  There were a couple little babies scurrying along there among the older birds. The babies were the cutest thing ever!  We went to the Isle of Palms inCharlestonto see the beach.  It was clean and not hardly any people-there were only a hand full of people that were also walking the beach.  I have to tell you a funny story about the beach- we were done looking and were walking back across the bridge to head back to the car.  We stopped on the stairs going down facing the hotel and condo’s that were right there and out of the corner of my eye I saw a woman standing on her balcony watching me put my shoes back on.  I though-okay I realize I am a large woman and it might have been funny to watch me try to be dainty and put my shoes back on but really?  Staring at me – really?  I mentioned to Thomas that the woman was watching us the whole time- he said “What woman?  Where?”  When I pointed her out he said “Mom that is not a real woman – it is a mannequin!!” The whole time I was thinking this woman was beyond rude staring at me trying to put my shoes back on and it was really a mannequin!!  I laughed for a long time about that one!

I will have to put my son back on a plane later next week after the New Year as he has to return toSouth Carolinato finish up some last minute things then off to AIT for him.  I am not looking forward to having let him leave again.  The time always seems to go by so fast.  He has grown up a whole lot during the time he was at basic training. He has of course lost weight but has also gained some insight on how life really is. We are all taking plenty of pictures of him in his uniforms.  He has been being a good sport and has smiled each time we pointed a camera at him.

I have decided to find a new home for my faithful companion Shorty; He has done nothing but growl and bark at Thomas the whole time he has been here. I mean the whole time!  The noise is starting to get to everyone.  But not only has he been mean to Thomas he was a jerk the whole week I was gone and my neighbor was watching him for me.  I guess Shorty did nothing but growl and bark at him too.  Shorty has not been a very social dog for me- he is fine when it is just the two of us but when people come he seems to have a melt down and is not very nice.  So I have some feelers out trying to find him a new home where he won’t feel so grouchy. I get it that Thomas and Shorty are both males and that Shorty is just protecting me but it is not just the two of them. It is everyone else to that comes in.  My mom was here one day and Shorty was nice and let her pet him- wanted to sit in her lap.  But when she stood up to leave he pretty much decided to take her out and tried to bite her feet.  So it is sad but Shorty has to move to a different home.

Proverbs 12:10 (ASV)

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast; But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

Even God talks about our pets.  It is important to take good care of our animals.  They are important to God too.  When you have the responsibility of a pet you should consider it like your children – you have to make sure you feed them properly, take them to the doctor (vet) when necessary and yes for me to even finally make the decision that this is just not working out and perhaps Shorty would be happier in a different environment.  I know I have had several dogs and have loved them all – even Shorty!  This will be fine- things will work out all for the good!

I am praying for you!
