BlogHer's leading conferences, proprietary technology platform and you, our massive, distributed network of trusted communities (3,000 bloggers, 18,000+ social media influencers and BlogHer.com) will now benefit from SheKnows Media's premium monetization channels and expertise in branded video content, as well as owned and operated properties such as SheKnows.com, Experts Among Us, Hatch and the company’s recent acquisition of StyleCaster, a fantastic fashion and beauty media brand. The combined entity, SheKnows Media, will benefit by extending its reach to just about everywhere women go online…every corner of the women’s web, where BlogHer influencers lead conversations on everything from politics to parenting.
What matters most to us as co-founders is a shared vision for creating a global stage for women’s voices. Since I first met SheKnows Media CEO Philippe Guelton in 2013, soon after he took the helm, he’s been talking about how women inspire women. For those of us who follow SheKnows.com, Philippe and the SheKnows team have certainly been on a roll – witness #Femvertising and #BossyIs, the brainchildren of Chief Revenue Officer Samantha Skey and clear cousins of the research and insights the BlogHer team has worked to bring to the marketplace to explode stereotypes about women.

Since March 2005, when Elisa Camahort Page, Jory Des Jardins and I first invited other bloggers to join a conference celebrating women who blog, our mission has been to create opportunities for women in social media to gain community, education, exposure and economic empowerment. It's been our honor and pleasure to evangelize the sheer power and inspiration of the women -- and men! -- whose voices are heard at our events, across our massive distributed community, and of course on BlogHer.com, from parenting to politics, from hot technology to cool culture.
As writers ourselves, it's been exciting to grow from a grassroots movement into an established digital publishing and events business steeped in high-quality, diverse content and conversation. This community’s early adoption of quality guidelines made it possible for all of us to work with some of the world's biggest and best advertising partners, and to pay $36 million in work-for-hire fees and advertising revenue shares to 5,700 social media influencers across our community between 2009 and 2013.
As a team, we’ve learned so much about quantifying the true influence and impact of this entrepreneurial community: Witness the launch of our scalable technology platform, InfluenceHer 360, where BlogHer and, we think, the industry took a great step forward in accountability with our offer of guaranteed quality results, at pennies per engagement, for brands. Now #worlddomination, as Elisa, Jory and I have long half-joked, is on the horizon. With the greater resources and additional expertise that come with being a member of the SheKnows Media family, first on our team agenda is making the most of new opportunities such as developing premium video entertainment vehicles starring our bloggers and influencers, taking on international audiences, and developing sites and apps with industry-leading design aesthetic like SheKnows.com – to name just a few!
