Imagine how it would affect you, if suddenly, your pay was cut to 7.25 an hour…how would you survive? The ripple down affect from these people not paying their bills or contributing to the commerce of Scranton is going to be felt far and wide. How are they going to feed their families, provide shelter for them?
Scranton has 300 employees, over a hundred are cops, a hundred are firefighters, there's a handful of parks and recreations and clerks and the mayor all bumped down to 7.25 because Scranton couldn't meet payroll if they didn't slash pay.
The unions are fighting for the people but seriously, you can't milk a turnip. The mayor has already promised to pay these people what is owed to them when the cash starts flowing again. If it does. Scranton is almost bankrupt. There is no way to sugar coat that fact.
This is scary. I've been hearing for years that that there will be no Social Security and Medicaid leftover for us. Is this Scranton pay cut just an appetizer to what is coming?
What about on the Federal level? Although I do feel that those congressmen and senators should feel what we people feel out here who aren't under the protective umbrella of the Federal Government.
How long will the police protect us when they can't make ends meet on 7.25 an hour? What about the fire fighters who can't afford to fill up his truck to get to the fire station because gas is almost half that per gallon?
This is scary.
