Pumpkin Time

Yesterday I told you all about my plans to blog a month of pumpkins but what I didn't tell you is that I've pre-written a good number of posts in order to fulfill my obligation to the great pumpkin.

Agriculture Has Changed Dramatically Especially Since The End Of World War Ii. Food And Fiber Productivity Soared Due To New Technologies Mechanization Increased Chemical Use Specialization And Government Policies That Favored Maximizing Production. These Changes Allow Fewer Farmers With Reduced Labor Demands To Produce The Majority Of The Food And Fiber In The U.S. Pumpkins Still Life Produce Harvest Vegetables

I pre-wrote them knowing I'd probably tweak, change and completely throw out a few. I pre-wrote them and pre-scheduled them knowing full well I'd toss out my calendar at some point and just plain wing it. That's how I roll.

What I didn't expect was for the first pre-written post to get a complete re-write but that's what's happening today. You see, something really bad happened today and it is completely related to pumpkin time.

There are a lot of crazy (and also nice) people who really like fall. They look forward to the cooling temperatures and the new fall wardrobe. They actually like sweaters and boots. And new scarves.

I am not one of those people.

Today. I. Turned. On. The. Heat. And, I am oh so not happy about it. In fact, I'm really annoyed by it particularly since I'm still cold. There's nothing I hate more than spending money unless it is spending money to heat the house in October and STILL BEING COLD.

I do not like fall. (No cracks about winter, please. I don't think I can handle that right now.)

I'm thinking fondly of days gone by... days when I lived in tropical countries where pumpkins where shipped by boat to my nearest military commissary. My heart warms when I remember that the only chill in the air during pumpkin painting and carving and cooking came from the AC vent. That photo yesterday that I posted of Michelle, wearing next to nothing while carving the pumpkin on the front porch... ah those were the days.

Boo fall! Boo fall in Illinois! I'm a warm weather pumpkin lover.

I'll leave you with Natalia Zukerman singing Pumpkin Time (Or, you can download a really bad boot of this song with Melissa Ferrick playing flugelhorn. Right click, save as etc...)

Shiver.
