Prayer

November 16 Lk. 18:1-8

Jesus prayed consistently.  Prayer is like a rope that keeps us close to God, for me prayer keeps me sane. In the darkness of the late hours I am haunted by the faces of the kids who have died, Mike Bolo laying wrapped in a blanket being taken for creamation; Josh, with a needle in his arm, eyes opened, mouth drooling, lying dead on his SRO floor; the kids missing, Matthew who disappeared 12 years ago still haunts me, supposed to meet me, never showed, and his mom is still haunted, the kids lately--there are times I cry myself to sleep;  and in the end I have been driven to keeping the daily office and celebrating the Eucharist every day--for in so doing I feel God's presence, and there is hope. Deo Gratias! Thanks be to God!
