We are still in shock about the devastating tornado damage to the Moore,Oklahoma area. The cutest little rent house ever is a little less than two hours away so we were not in any danger from the tornados however we have had lots and lots of rain!! The news is still full of footage of the houses that are just piles of lumber now. People are still looking for lost loved ones as well as still searching the rubble in hopes of finding lost pets. We are covering that area in prayer! We need the weather to cooperate for a day or two so those folks can go in and try to piece their lives back together without getting rained on! The funerals for those caught in the storm started today – that is the hardest part when things like this happen. Again- prayer is warranted!
It is times like these that always show what a community is made of. The news has been talking about all the volunteers and the supplies that have started to pour in. Facebook is full of people offering encouragement and hope as well as monetary donations! I am not a tweeter as of yet (tweeting is on the list for growth at the moment) but if I was able I would tweet to Please pray!! We need to pray for those affected by the storm but also for those responders that have spent and will be spending hours upon hours searching the rubble and helping to clean up. Pray for the police departments involved that will help keep the looters out and the displaced families safe. Pray for the fire departments and the paramedics that are dealing with injuries and helping people out to safety. I can only imagine how full the near by hospitals and clinics are – pray for the doctors and nurses to have patience and wisdom to help those injured by the storm. Pray for the volunteers that are starting to come in with equipment to help start to clean up the community. To help the home owners clean up the damages and find their belongings that did not get destroyed and decide what to do next! And most of all pray the peace of God over the families that have lost a loved one because of the storm. The funerals started today it seems. There were several children killed when the tornado hit an elementary school and those families will need to feel God’s comfort. My heart aches for the children that lost parents during this time. What is in store for their lives now?
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
The one thing I know for sure is that God is here with us and he has this all in control!
I am praying for you!
