Pink slips change everything -- priorities suddenly shift!
One minute there’s a deadline to get docs to title, print sales production reports, print broker checks. Then came the layoff whispers . . . all of a sudden none of the above matters. The topics of the day became: ‘Who's leaving on what date – what are you planning to do; where are you going to apply next?’
Well, in 2007, just before all the layoff ra ra, I had an idea for my account executive and I to create video emails to send to our prospects and clients to introduce ourselves. However, no sooner than we began doing video takes, there were massive, companywide layoffs. The company closed all of its mortgage divisions (including ours).
I’m a trooper though -- if all else fails, hire yourself.
I still believe quality video is a great tool for business owners and here’s why:
- Video can add a personal touch
- Even if they haven't met the business owner in person, customers and potential customers can ‘get to know’ who they are doing business with or who they will do business with
- Provides relief from text overload. (There comes a point where eyes just glaze over.)
- Videos are great additions to marketing tools, internet real estate, and visual brands.
So, by all means, have at it -- add video!
