The Oscars

What a night for Movies, Actors and Fans alike! This year, has been a stellar year for movies. People from all walks of life, were celebrated and appreciated in this year's films. We saw everything. From Astronauts in Space to an Electrician facing a devastating diagnosis. We saw Captain taken hostage on the waters and we saw the story of a Man, once free and then forced into slavery.

Every single film deserved the nominations and wins. I wished that there could've been ties. Where more than one person could win. Because there were so many stellar performances on display for the Academy, but as we all know, that's not how it works. But, those that were winners tonight, did not disappoint. And neither did the host, Ms. Ellen Degeneres.

First, Lupita won the Oscar for Best Supporting actress for "!2 Years a Slave" and Jared Leto won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for  "Dallas Buyers Club". Then, "Gravity" took home 7 Oscars out of Ten nominations, including Best Director. (Also "American Hustle" and "Gravity" were tied going in with ten nominations each.) "Frozen" for Best Original song. Pharell Willams was nominated for "Happy". His song for "Despicable Me 2". And he was amazing! This was the first time when I saw the Oscar audience get up and dance with a performer! Everybody had a blast. And of course, so much of that, was due to the Host.

Ellen was classic funny as usual!!! She started off with some great jokes, stylish wardrobe changes and Pizza. Yeah, that's right. No typos. She got pizza and gave it to some of the stars! she had Chinet plates and napkins and Brad and Angelina gave some plates out to some of their fellows friends and colleagues. Then, many people literally started eating pizza! Although, the Major Selfie that she took with Meryl Streep, Brad, Angelina, Channing Tatum, Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Lupita and many others got such a major roar, until it shut down Twitter! As in Shut Down Twitter! With that one Major photo!!! Talk about a Major hit! And Ellen said she wanted to take a selfie with Meryl and make it make history. By being the most retweeted photo in the history of Twitter. Well, she got her wish. Ellen was an incredible host and she made it a lot of fun.

Honorary Oscars were given out the night before. Recipients included Angela Landsbury and Angelina Jolie's humanitarian award. There were so many incredible highlights, including the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz"! Judy Garland's children were there and Oscar winner Whoopi goldberg introduced the salute that included a special performance by Pink. Who sang one of the biggest musical numbers ever, "Somewhere over the Rainbow". Bette Midler performed for the first time at the Oscars ever! Can you believe it? She did the "In Memoriam" tribute. She sang, "Wind beneath my Wings"! She gave a beautiful and sweet performance!

Finally, it was time to deliver the biggest awards of the evening.

And the Oscar goes too...

Lead Actress- Cate Blanchett  "Blue Jasmine"

Lead Actor- Matthew Mcconaughey  "Dallas Buyers Club"

Best Motion Picture....... Drumroll please...

"12 Years a Slave" took home the Top honor of the night and of the Awards season!

All in all, it was a great show. There were beautiful people, gorgeous gowns and tuxedos and hilarious moments. It was great to see such a light  and beautiful award show. No crazy surprises, (other than the fact the none of us had the slightest clue what Ellen was going to do!) and everything went so incredibly well!

I am so glad that Mom and I got to watch it together tonight. I had fun! Congradulations to all of the nominess and winners! But realistically, Everyone was Winning, tonight!!!

Great dreams, can come true, everybody. Just keep working and keep dreaming. Tell your fears and nerves, "Hey, Listen! I'm the Captain Now!" :)
