At this time of the year it is easy to want to embrace your inner Scrooge. The petitions to spend, buy, get and grab would make a normal person want relief from the psychological assault of consumption. There just might be another way to approach giving.

The Project for Awesome 2012 is a simple idea that can benefit a lot of people.
Here is the basic concept.
You create a video that supports your favorite charity or non-profit organization. The video is uploaded to YouTube and tagged with #P4A2012.
On December 17, 2012 folks will gather around a live event, hosted by the VlogBrothers, and view all of the submitted videos. The best of the #P4A2012 videos that get the most votes will have a donation made to their charity.
It doesn’t have to be a big national charity or non-profit. Look local and you will find a need. From 2011, this is a video created by Pineapple Boy Films to help raise funds to bus school children to their local public library.
Lots of good things happen when you make this kind of video. You bring awareness to a problem. You point out a possible solution. There will be people who are happy to give money, time or attention when there is a clear understanding of where the money is going and how it can help a community.
This is so much better than buying another hot dog warmer.Yes, You Can Do This!
I think hand crafted and homemade videos are the best but I certainly can appreciate that people are time crunched and can use all the help they can get. These are just a few of the resources that can help you compose a video.
If you have an Android, iPhone or Windows Smartphone you can participate. You have the ability to record video with those devices. You can create a talking head video, record construction paper animation, take photos, record narration.

I hope that you will consider being a creator or a participant voter on December 17th as the show goes live and the counting of the votes begins. I just know that there will be that one organization that will just need a click from you to help with the funding.
We all can do just a little bit to help make our place in the world better.
