November NaBloPoMo Comes with Prizes and More

National Blog Posting Month is the epicenter of daily blogging! People who want to set the habit of blogging by doing it every day for a month, including weekends, can band together for moral support, inspiration, and the camaraderie that only marathon blogging can provide.

Big changes are underway with NaBloPoMo, just in time for November, the original month for the project. We'll move permanently from the Ning site to BlogHer, therefore increasing the number of eyes that fall on your posts. We'll be doling out advice on how to write and blog better (such as how to keep going when you hit that wall mid-month or project and feel like you can't write another post or page). We'll have fabulous guest prompts from some of your favourite writers. And, of course, there will be prizes, prizes, and more prizes. Intrigued? Read more so you don't miss out when November rolls around. (Editor's note: Signs ups ended on November 5 at 11pm ET.)

October will be the last month that NaBloPoMo appears on the original Ning site. We've already been running NaBloPoMo posts on BlogHer for the past few months, but now all of YOUR posts will upload to BlogHer too. We have a NaBloPoMo landing page on the site, and all of the daily posts you traditionally upload to NaBloPoMo will run there along with the blogroll, the monthly badges, and the daily prompts. Some of your posts will also be chosen to appear additionally on the front page of the Blogging & Social Media section and receive some additional social media love.

Sound good? Your NaBloPoMo account on Ning will not move over to BlogHer. If you'd like to continue with NaBloPoMo (and yes, men are always welcome on BlogHer):

  • Create a BlogHer profile (if you don’t already have one). Learn everything about using BlogHer!
  • Set your reminders so you don’t forget to blog every day in November. Qualifying participants will be eligible for prizes every single day in November – we have BlogHer conference passes, BlogHer surprises and tons of BlogHer Book Club books from Penguin Publishing and others.
  • Sign up for the new NaBloPoMo newsletter on BlogHer so you don’t miss an update. The final NaBloPoMo newsletter in the old format will go out the last week in October. If you want to continue to receive NaBloPoMo newsletters, you must sign up on!

You have questions, and we hopefully have answers. Please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section below, and I'll dive into passing along more information about the new (and fantastic!) NaBloPoMo. It's going to help you write better.

Melissa writes Stirrup Queens and Lost and Found. Her novel about blogging is Life from Scratch.
