Today’s NaBloPoMo Prompt is, “Would you read a personal blog without a comment section? How do you feel when a comment section is closed?“
To be honest, I read a lot of blogs from my phone. As a result, commenting is difficult so I don’t do it. (I always say I will when I get to my computer, but then I either can’t find the post or I can’t remember what I wanted to say.)
When it comes to personal blogs, I can understand why someone wouldn’t want to leave the comments open. You don’t want someone trying to insert their will on your life. I get that. What I don’t get is why they would want to make their blog public if they don’t want to converse.
That’s one of the whole points of blogging–starting a conversation. When someone closes the comments, what it says to me is one of three things:
- They get a lot of abuse.
- They set their comments to close after a certain period of time.
- They don’t care about other people’s opinions.
