What a delight it is to care for my garden, whimsical and flourishing green. Though in the brilliant heat of the sun I stand and squat and kneel and reach, happiest I am when I water and weed. Here, within my whimsical, green garden, I feel that much closer to God’s heart; for here I have found my oasis, long-overdue rest for my tired and parched spirit. Amidst my flourishing green garden, I see the beauty of God’s artistry, and I answer to His call to rest. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.
With much heart and planned determination, obvious dirt under the nails, and blisters and calluses aplenty—not to mention nights of aching back and knees, and a whole lot of faith in Nature—my garden is thriving. And the deer, ever hungry and preying on the fruits of our labor, are now playing and nibbling someplace else. Hallelujah for garlic!
After much searching and researching for advice on how-to discourage the deer from our tasty bounty, we have found something that really works—safe for the animals and allowing us to stay green. For about $12.00, we purchased a bag of vials of garlic oil (about 24 in a bag), and we have scattered them strategically throughout our garden. Now the deer want nothing more to do with our whimsical appetizing paradise.
Though it has only been 1 month, it is 1 month of victory! We have been able to admire the deer from afar, as they keep their distance and walk right through our garden without bothering to stop. Yay!
We dream a life to be; we live to dream that life! (vka)
