Must-Follow Mondays: Thanksgiving Bloggers

Thanksgiving is the day when even people who hate to cook pull out all the stops for the big meal. And figuring out what to put on your menu can be downright daunting. But never fear, BlogHer’s food bloggers (as usual) have plenty of brilliant ideas to share with us. Here are five bloggers who are going all-out with their Thanksgiving coverage.

The Speckled Palate

Erin from The Speckled Palate kicked off her Thanksgiving coverage with farm-to-fork updates of all the favorites. We’re seriously inspired by her all-fresh version of Green Bean Casserole, which is also dairy-free. Her Drunken Cranberry Sauce is even fresher—it’s laced with a couple of tablespoons of spiced rum.

Cookie Monster Cooking

Ashley from Cooking Monster Cooking is hosting two Thanksgiving feasts—one of which is entirely gluten-free. You can call her crazy (I certainly would), but she has a lot of tips and tricks for pulling it off, which she culls from last year's post Thanksgiving Menu Preparations. Both of her menus this year have especially fabulous side dishes, such as Easy Roasted Asparagus With Parmesan, Creamy Mashed Cauliflower and Fresh Herb Dinner Rolls.

Girl Makes Food

Alissa from Girl Makes Food has a mission to make healthful, nutritious food that’s easy to prepare -- and tastes good, too. Her Easy Vegetarian Thanksgiving Menu delivers on all counts, with sweet potato casserole, green beans and even vegetarian gravy done four ways (including one gluten-free option). Alissa even features a Gluten-Free Stuffing that’s vegan too.

Kalyn's Kitchen AND Slow Cooker From Scratch

The unstoppable Kalyn Denny has been putting together several roundups of recipes for the big day. At Kalyn’s Kitchen, she offers up Ten Favorite Deliciously Healthy Green Vegetable Recipes that are Perfect for Thanksgiving. As if the BlogHer contributing editor isn’t already busy enough, she’s also featuring dozens of T-day recipes on her other blog, Slow Cooker From Scratch, which is especially helpful on a day when all the stove’s burners are busy cooking other dishes. Some of our favorites include Ten Amazing From-Scratch Blogger-Tested Recipes for Slow Cooker Turkey Breast and Ten Amazing From-Scratch Blogger-Tested Recipes for Mashed Potatoes in the Slow Cooker.

Sugar Plum Blog

Pie is one of the most important things on the Thanksgiving table, and Emily from Sugar Plum Blog has you covered. Her experiments in the kitchen have yielded a decadent Double Chocolate Pecan Pie and a more traditional Ultimate Pecan Pie. And Emily hasn’t forgotten breakfast: The Maple-Glazed Pumpkin Bread looks perfect for that extra-special Thursday morning.
