Monday, May 26 is Memorial Day in the United States—a day set aside to remember those who have lost their lives serving our country. In honor of military families and the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces, we've compiled a short list of some military family blogs you'll want to add to your blog reading list.
The tagline of Naja Diamond is "from combat boots to stilettos," which sums up the six years this blogger gave to the Air Force before moving into a job in fashion marketing. She protected the country, and now she's protecting you from making a fashion faux pas.
MAKING HOME BASE
Chelsea of Making Home Base is a big supporter of military families. She has been a military wife for almost nine years, helping her family through two deployments. Her blog gives decorating ideas to other military families or people who are constantly on the move, trying to make small, temporary spaces feel like home.
MY CAMO KIDS
My Camo Kids is another military family blog written by a military wife. Lora has raised five children through three deployments, and blogging is both a stress reliever for Mom and a way for Dad to keep up with the day-to-day life of the family when he's serving. I love the daddy doll on her blog, and the ways she has found to keep the family closely knitted together even when they need to be scattered.
FROM CAPTAIN'S DAUGHTER TO ARMY MOM
Janet went from being a military child to being the mother of an Airborne Ranger. From Captain's Daughter to Army Mom is the day-to-day life of an army mother, worrying and cheering on her son from home. Her blog covers a lot of ground, from gardening to baking to entertaining.
ALSO KNOWN AS THE WIFE
Jennifer of Also Known as the Wife is raising two young children while being a military spouse. She chronicles her husband's military duty on her blog, along with musings on parenthood and family life. I love that she doesn't try to capture perfection; she presents reality and makes the reader feel at home.
Of course, there are dozens of other wonderful military blogs out there. Please chime in with your favorite ones.
