The Knotted Branch

Kat here of The Knotted Branch.  I've belonged to BlogHer for a couple years I do believe, but have yet to get into blogging due to life.  :)

Now I find myself wanting to blog here to keep those who know us and our mission updated on our progress as well as my ramblings on life and the such.

First blog I wish to thank all the folks at our facebook group Coffee and Cabs, you have been a highlight in both mine and Dennis' life and at a time when we need it the most. :)

As I sit here in room 133 of the Motel6 here in Santa Rosa New Mexico, waiting on a ride from my daughter in law Kristy, who is coming to take us back home with her to Aurora Indiana, where we will camp in the woods while we continue on with our mission.

What mission?  The Knotted Branch Mission

I'll post it here and invite ya'll to keep coming back to stay updated.  Thanks for reading!

The Knotted Branch Mission

The Knotted Branch is much more than Dennis making beautiful pendants using the cold forged method.  Our name has always been, The Knotted Branch ~ Wearable Art & Beyond.

The Knotted Branch’s mission is to help others to survive the elements while homeless, to help anyone in need of help if it’s within our means to do so, and to let folks know that there really is hope.  For Dennis and I that hope comes from our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Backpack Brigade is a grass roots effort to help the homeless by stuffing new backpacks with items to help them survive and to bring a little hope to those who feel hopeless. We are not a registered non-profit organization, however we do not profit from The Backpack Brigade.

Dennis and I have a dream we both obtained when we ourselves were homeless.  That’s a whole nother’ story and I’ll be happy to tell it to whoever is interested.

The dream is we feel called to help the homeless, and whoever is in need of the type of help we can offer.

The dream includes purchasing land somewhere, enough land to do a few things.

At first, our thoughts were to make it a place where the weary travelers that are on foot, homeless, can stop for a while, get rested up, showered up, fed lots of healthy foods that we will grow and encourage them to use their talents in creating things to perhaps find a way to earn an income.

Along the way, different ideas about this has taken place and the thoughts this morning, thanks to talking with a friend on facebook, we would like to make it a place which would be home could for rescued dogs as well as a safe haven rest stop.    The dogs and the folks who stop to rest would maybe find each other. J

We started The Backpack Brigade after our homeless time.  We learned a few tips on survival while having to survive.  You can find some of those tips on Dennis' website   He would teach survival skills. :)

We have had many delays and trials during trying to bring this dream come true, but we see where it is slowly coming together and we know that God will help us.

Thank you for reading!
