KitchenAid Fail, Big Bird 2012, and ... Politics: Debate #1 in Tweets
Missed the first Obama-Romney debate tonight? Twitter didn't.
Tonight's debate was the most tweeted about event in US political history, topping the numbers from the RNC and DNC.
The hands-down winner of the 1st debate was Twitter. But we knew that going in.
Romney Emerges Ahead
CBS News instapoll: 46% said Romney won. 22% said Obama won. 32% said tie. Decisive win for Romney.
As an "undecided" voter who isn't a fan of Obama, I gotta say POTUS came off as weak as he did in EVRY debate against #HillaryClinton in 08.
KitchenAid Tweet Fail Mocks Obama's Grandmother
Someone doing social media for KitchenAidUSA caught Twitter on fire with a tweet about the president's deceased grandmother. The brand issued a swift apology.
Aaaand someone just got fired. RT: @kitchenaidusa: Obamas gma even knew it was going 2 b bad! 'She died 3 days b4 he became president'”
If Big Bird's out of work, he'll at least have company with the bonehead at @kitchenaidusa's twitter account tomorrow.
Deepest apologies for an irresponsible tweet that is in no way a representation of the brand's opinion. #nbcpolitics
The good thing about public social media gaffes is they're powerful teachable moments - they remind ALL of us to be intentional w/our words.

#Big Bird 2012!
Romney's comment calling out Big Bird (and moderator Jim Lehrer) specifically when he discussed cutting PBS funding spawned a Big Bird 2012 trend and several fun new Twitter accounts.
Romney will fire Big Bird and Cookie Monster and replace them with the replacement refs #bigbird
This will be known as the Big Bird Debate.
Save Downton Abbey!
Don't mess with fans of the Dowager Countess: #SaveDowntonAbbey got hot, too.
Back the fuck up.If Mittens is elected he's going to cancel Downton Abbey?I think I just got involved in politics.
I want a Romney/Obama/Dame Maggie Smith debate next time #savedowntonabbey
Twitter Questions Lehrer as Moderator
No talk of 47%, no conversation on women's rights, nothing on immigration and Latinos (a key electorate)... #JimLehrerFail
People criticizing Jim Lehrer on twitter but many of us believe he just led one of great debates since '60. Like a good ref, he let em play
"Jim Lehrer" is trending worldwide, as the moderator lost tonight's debate on Twitter: journ.us/SrsAsI
Tweets From the Right
Romney fought for his win. He was engaged, prepared, and looked happy to be there. He wants the job, asked for it.
Obama's performance was so bad, I'm starting to think it must be some kind of strategy.
Tweets From the Left
Mitt just proved he has no concept of real ppls lives- no way private insurance for old sick ppl ever cheaper than Medicare #debates
I agree that in terms of presentation, Mitt won. But when you are playing fast and loose with FACTS, you have an easier job. #BlogForObama
Two things I wish Obama said tonight: 47%, women #debate
Kind of a strange night in social media, no? What did you think about tonight's debate? Did it change your mind -- about the candidates, social media, policy?
