Invoking the mother

I awoke this morning with distinct feelings of concern clinging to me from the night before. In that foggy, half-awake state, thoughts of my nephew, the play I saw last night, and a dream I had about a child who needed my help, came back to the forefront of my mind. 

My mother called yesterday to tell me that my ten-year-old nephew broke his arm in two places during his lacrosse game. It was a bad break and may require surgery.
