Steve McKee, author of When Growth Stalls: How It Happens, Why You're Stuck, and What to Do About It , talks about today’s marketing and media fragmentation in his Bloomberg article: Integrated Marketing: If You Knew it You’d Do It.
He says: “The good news is that there is a powerful way to overcome fragmentation: integration. But don’t be deceived—it’s more difficult than it appears.”
The pace of information technology is simply astounding.
Just when you think you have actually mastered something, that you actually understand it , and believe you can apply it to your business, it goes into a slightly different direction and catches another part of a wave.
Keeping up is more than just riding the wave. It’s about riding the wave but seeing not only where you are, but also where you are going!

Over 25 comments later, we clearly see that blogging is an outlet for everything from venting, bringing awareness to an issue or cause, or using it as a professional platform to make money for a stay at home Mom.
Whatever your motivation is you need to have a personal and blog marketing plan? How are you getting your message out and how can people find you and your blog?
There’s lots of content about how integrating marketing platforms, applications, media’s and activities builds your brand reach and your professionalism as a blogger. I’m not sure why people still think they can put up a blog and write some very good content and people will just find it?
In today’s content jungle, you need that, plus a personal marketing plan that is bold, diverse and integrated in these six areas.
Use the three pillars Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, but if you look at most “follow us”, it’s the Facebook and Twitter icons most seen on websites, blogs or in advertising and marketing. Google+ can go a long way with SEO and how you show up in Google searches. Google+ rewards its community and those that join and participate in it. Raise the level of your activity on social media and plan out your blog promotion plan. When is the last time you Googled yourself, to see how Google brands you?
In Person Networking
This year, getting out more, showing more face to face and meeting people in person is finally rising to the top of networking priorities! There is nothing like connecting personally to advance relationships. Plan on going local, regional and national to meet your fans, followers, peers and colleagues.
The audio medium and radio is still one of the most popular ways to create content and build your blog's brand. The online podcasting and radio options and all the tools they offer to seamlessly connect your podcast content to social media has improved dramatically. BlogtalkRadio.com, Hipcast.com, and of course ITunes are amazing networks now. You do not need to be a trained radio professional to have a successful podcast. A great niche content area, the ability to have a conversation, some cool guests that have their own following and a solid following of your own is all you need. Check out PodcastDirectory.com.
I certainly shouldn’t have to spend too much time convincing you of the power of video in your marketing mix, do I? Just go to YouTube and look at how the second largest search engine behind Google operates and what it offers. One of the best suggestions I got from several people early on, was to guest post on key blogs in my areas of expertise. Find out who the top bloggers and blog sites are in your field and start following them. Get into their conversations and become a part of their activity. Contribute and you will be noticed. Follow them on their social media of choice. Once the relationship is established reach out personally and ask if you can submit a guest post. It works. A great resource for this is Technorati.com.
Nothing is more personal and potent than permission based email marketing. Building a relationship with an email marketing database of loyal followers can yield a big payoff. This is where you can really build "know, like, and trust".. In today’s fragmented online world, these targeted and focused communities of permission are a privilege. Here are the top email marketing companies, their pricing and the services they provide.
Look at your brand and branding and make that work better in tandem. Try to identify the areas where you need to have more presence and add that to the mix.
You don’t need to be everywhere doing everything, but you do need to be in the right places doing something!
