I loved this post by We Call it Junkin about what she has learned about blogging now that she's hit the six month mark. It's the first time I've seen someone admit outright that she started her blog in order to make money, and she subsequently runs it with the seriousness of a business. This angle will likely resonate with a lot of people who are blogging today; either because they're trying to make it part of their income, or because they may have started blogging for the conversation, but they are now wishing to utilize their space to make money. Plus is full of great advice. She writes,
First, let me say that the reason I started blogging was for additional income, plain and simple. Some folks blog for pleasure only, and that’s great, but for me, it’s a business, and I’ve treated it as a business from day one. If I had opened a retail store, I wouldn’t have taken it any more seriously.
I point this out because I’m sure this attitude has affected my “lessons learned”, so if you’re blogging for pleasure only, you may read this and think, “Whoa! She needs to relax!” But whether you’re blogging for income or pleasure, I hope you’ll find something useful here.
