I received an email from an inventor who wants to find funding to bring a green product to market. She had been given a lot of encouragement from a corporation who wants to manufacture her green invention and market it. Although this route would be a relatively easy way for her to see the invention reach a large market, this inventor is concerned about all of the unemployed people in her area. The corporation wants to produce the product overseas--a logical choice given the production costs would be significantly lower in China. The inventory, though, would rather see the product produced in a local factory, providing employment in her upstate New York community. But, to follow that plan, she'll need money, which led to the email for advice.
I wouldn't claim to have "advice" about a situation I know so little about, but I did share with her, and with other potential entrepreneurs, some ideas of where to look for funds when you want to run a business with more than cash profits as your measure of success.
