I find myself in the position of "owning" four websites/blogs and quite confused about finding them homes with webhosting companies.
My priorities are pretty straightforward
- affordability (not "cheap" but affordable)
- customer service in proportion to the affordability
- wordpress hosting
- local business (Pittsburgh)
- a good corporate citizen
I'd really prefer to have one company for everything, but that's for my own sake and that's where it gets more complicated.
First, one blog is a nonprofit so that has a different set of rules and expectations than my personal branded political blog. That's fine. I have a webhost for that blog and it works. I had hoped to move local for other others.
One local doesn't come cheap. Or affordable. And no customer service.
Another seems to be connected to organizations that believe I'm going to hell for being a lesbian so that's not a great option.
Another is all "Go SOPA" so not so good.
I tried relying on volunteers but that's another set of challenges.
How do you make these decisions? I willing to accept "good enough" but its hard to define.
