Who’s looking for a summer getaway, a “girls” getaway? We both love to travel, and we love to travel with each other. We’re always talking about our next adventure and what it will be (just yesterday in fact). Here are just a few of the things we’d love to do some day and we thought we share them with all of you if you’re looking for ideas. And the best part, these tours are all geared to women.
(In no particular order)
#1 – Wayfarers Walking Vacations
If you’re looking to venture to Europe, these tours look fantastic. More importantly, they specifically have a “Girlfriends’ Getaway” tour. These are walking tours through villages in France, the cobblestone roads of Italy, the countryside of England and so much more. If you ‘like’ their Facebook page, they regularly post pictures of their walking tours and they leave you drooling every time at the beautiful scenery. Plus, everyone looks like they’re having a great time.
#2 – Zephyr Adventures
These tours are unique in that not only do you pick your destination, you pick your mode of transportation. Biking, hiking, roller skating, etc. For Zephyr we think the “Food, Wine & Beer” tours sound divine. Just read some of these descriptions:
Oregon Multisport Wine Adventure
We spend five days in Oregon, visiting wine regions ranging from Eugene to the northern Willamette Valley to the Hood River appellation. This is a Multisport Tour and we visit the wine regions by walking, bicycling, and canoeing. Most of these activities are not currently organized or available in the Oregon wine country outside our tour. On our adventure in Oregon we offer unique vineyard walks, a lazy canoe trip down the Willamette River, a thrilling bike ride above the Columbia River, a hike in the shadow of Mount Hood, and more. We also take time to stop and smell the rosés…as well as the pinots, cabs, gris and even olive oil!
Yellowstone & Grand Tetons Multisport Beer
Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are two of the most beautiful areas of the United States. In our view, seeing them by foot and from the seat of a bicycle is incomparably better than seeing them from a car window. On this tour, you’ll be doing a fair amount of hiking, some biking and even some river rafting. You’ll wrap up each day at a local brewery. After all, what would a beer tour of Yellowstone be without the beer?
Do these sound fun or what?! You can pick your own private tour for your group of gals.
#3 – Adventure Women
If you do nothing else, please go to their website and get inspired. Click on “Are You An Adventure Woman”. A few of their 2014 adventures are: Walking in Provence, France, Gorilla Trek & Wildlife Safari and Alaska Bear Viewing & Safari. There are certainly many others to choose from and they all look amazing.
#4 – Lakeview at Fontana
We realize adventure might not be everybody’s cup of tea. If rest and relaxation is what your body needs, do a spa weekend in the Smokey Mountains. Or as Lakeview says, schedule a “girls night in”.
Adventure or relaxation, really what it’s all about is scheduling that girl time with your besties and nurturing your friendship soul. And if you do go on any of these trips, please take us with you!
If you’ve done a girlfriend trip in the past, please share your ideas for places to go in the comment section. I’m sure we’d all like to know where the best girlfriend action is. :)
