Getting Ready For Europe

Well, it’s not very long now before we head off into the sun again. This time we are headed for Zurich, where we will spend 3 days with a tour group our travel agent set up. We do get free time while we are there, which will be great, as long as we don’t get lost.

After  3 days in Switzerland, we take a train to Amsterdam, where we board our Avalon Waterways river cruise boat for seven days of cruising the Rhine River. Afterwards, we spend 3 days in Paris, again with a guided tour group. Which gives me peace. I don’t want to get lost. Did I mention that before?

Things You Get To See By River Cruise

Michael and I have done a lot of travel by water. When my parents had their boat, they would take us on a 2 week excursion every spring. We traveled extensively through the Bahamas with them. Our final trip was from Palm Beach to Baltimore, most of the trip was through the inter-coastal waterway. River cruising is an intimate way to see the world and I am super excited to travel Europe via the Rhine River! We’ve never done a cruise ship by river. This is exciting!

But I have so much to do before we leave. I’ve started. I won’t say I’ve got much accomplished yet, but that is because I haven’t made a list. This gal so needs a list to get things done. Maybe I need it more for the satisfaction of crossing things off. Whatever. Here goes my Europe Planning List.

Phase One

  1. Buy international data and text plan for iPhone
  2. Ditto the iPad
  3. Beg for an international plan from Verizon (they can’t do it, I understand why)
  4. Decide what suitcase I’m using
  5. Decide how I’m transporting the camera equipment
  6. Download WordPress for iPhone
  7. Download WordPress for iPad
  8. Gather things: converter, extension cord, umbrella, raincoat
  9. Check weather forecast
  10. Start packing things I won’t need for the next 10 days

Have you ever been on a river cruise?

PS: If you are wondering why there have been no travel blogs about Europe, it’s because I haven’t recuperated emotionally yet.
