Today's day trip to Victoria, Kansas, was foremost to visit the Cathedral on the Plains. I could copy the promotional material from the brochure but I will spare you. It was beautiful! Amazing place to spend a few hours with a camera!! But, like usual, I took the opportunity to break away from the group and venture on my own.
Now, Victoria is NOT a big town so I knew it was a matter of minutes before a local spotted me meandering down the street with camera in hand. Within 4 minutes a nice old German woman (with a bit of a white beard) pulled her car over to see if I needed help finding Jan. "Who is Jan?" I ask. Apparently Jan is the owner of the home whose yard art I'm taking a photo of.
This struck up a lengthy convo which ended in her sharing her mother's recipe for beef and noodles. She asked for my address before getting on her way. She promised to send me a few more of her German family recipes by post mail as soon as her friend got out of the hospital and relieved her of her dog sitting duties.
I can't wait to make the beef and noodles and look forward to receiving the other recipes!
