Countdown to Christmas 75 days and counting

You have made your savings plan, your gift list and your shopping strategies now it has time to plan your holiday menu. Remember planning meals include meals for not just Thanksgiving and Christmas; include breakfast Christmas morning, cookies for Santa, your kid’s class party, and just as a rule an extra cookie or bake tray for the unexpected invite.

First step of course compile your favorite recipes my first rule is to chose the bake good I know my family feels they can’t go without during the winter for us Zucchini bread ,homemade powder pecan cookies, and chocolates dipped candy. I just spend the day going through my family’s classic recipes writing down the ingredients quantities and learning just how much I will need for the season.

Wow, I’ve learned so much about our eating habits and just how much it takes to make our holiday the traditional one we expect to have. As far as health goes, I’ve learned how to limit sugar and increase fiber by using whole-wheat flour and apple sauce in recipes that I know won’t interfere with the flavor we are use to. I know that most savings blogger and couponer reject the warehouse stores, but I feel if you are savings only .55 on sugar and let’s face it when it comes to baking products we rarely find
coupons on them. These are the few items that I feel I can get the most for my money at my warehouse store I chose Sam’s club for more details check out our coupon page at www.where2save.ocm , we have a business membership and my friends who have a regular membership agree with me that the savings come with the quantity when you are using so much of it during the holiday season.

Sam’s has been influenced by the popularity of couponing and have initiated a new coupon plan called
e-value you can save on items of the week eValue is basically electronic coupons you get when you shop at Sam's Club. Every month the "coupons" change usually 10-20 different evalues offered monthly.
E-values savings could be id="mce_marker"00 off a jewelry set of $50 off a queen mattress or $3 off a large container of Tide. If you already have an eValues card the way to get your evalues is to just find the "eValues Kiosk" at your local Sam's Club they come off automatically at check out no coupons needed to find out what each weeks e-value is you can check on line or at the in store kiosk

How long will your buys last here is just a few items to freeze and save for later: butter, cheese-block, shredded or sliced, cream cheese, milk, yogurt, cookie dough can freeze as well flash freeze- check out our download page at for directions  a way to get a head of those busy winter months, for more ways to preserve items on holiday shopping list visit

Now that you know how many things you plan on baking you need to know how much to buy and store. A general rule:

4 c. flour per 1 lb. = 20 cups in a 5 lb. bag
and 2 c. sugar per 1 lb. = 10 cups in a 5 lb. bag

Store both sugars and flour in the refrigerator to keep fresh and bug free until you need them.
