Looking forward to going back to work the day after the holiday, I realize, is not something that most people embrace. Being the odd woman out frequently, I did enjoy getting back to my little cubicle. Diving in and sorting out all the "presents" left on my desk since last Friday, I indulged in some of the cookies and other goodies brought in post holiday with my morning coffee yesterday at work.
I did not enjoy the cold rain, however, and later on the cold winds that howled around my workplace Wednesday. My job requires that I spend part of the day outside and so by the end of the day, I was feeling rather raw. IThere were also several errands that needed doing on the way home. To say it was sheer bliss to be able to come in the door and just "sit down" is an understatement. Having enough leftovers for supper last night was part of my plan also. I sat on the couch and read the newspaper from Christmas Day plus Wednesday's edition until the spouse asked his inevitable "What's for my supper?". Afterwards, we cleaned up the kitchen and I went upstairs to lay out clothes for today and get my shower. Piling up in my favorite recliner with my favorite Black Watch down throw, I made a valiant effort to watch the latest episode of Rizzoli and Isles that we had DVR'd. But...as soon as I got warm and comfy, the sleep fairy sprinkled a goodly amount of nighty-night sparklies all over me. My long suffering spouse let me sleep in the chair, enduring my snores (without my CPAP machine I am a world class sleep apnea-ist ). Finally he woke me up and told me to go to bed.
A good night's sleep and I was raring to go again this a.m. Life is good!!
