Anyone who's planned a hen do will know that it can sometimes be a stressful affair! Although hen parties were once a simple night out with cocktails, we seem to have upped the ante, throwing in everything from afternoon teas to weekends away.

This can make it tricky to find a budget that won't leave the guests broke before the fun has even started. Luckily, these days there's a whole host of hen packages to choose from, which tailor to even the pickiest of brides, from detoxing yoga retreats to chocolate-themed walking tours.

The sheer amount of choice can be somewhat overwhelming – so here are 3 hen do essentials you should include in your plans no matter what you get up to..

Glitter

Whether you hire some glittered up waiters in the buff - or have your hair and makeup done by glitter artists - glitter is becoming a favourite for bridal parties and even weddings. It seems that couples are breaking away from tradition and getting a little bit more adventurous with their look. Face glitter is the perfect way to add a little bit of glitz and glam to the occasion. Whether you have decided to take a pole dancing class, go for afternoon tea… or drink 10 shots of tequila in a row. One of the best things about wearing glitter as part of your makeup, is that it’s long lasting and can cover any tired, hungover bags from the night before!

Costumes

It’s hard to resist fancy dress at a hen party. This could be anything from wearing “KATIES HEN PARTY” on a pink T-shirt, to dressing up as crayons. There’s nothing that will loosen you up and get you giggling than being dressed up in something silly, drinking champagne and having the best time with your hens. If you start off small, adding a tiara into your wardrobe, maybe a tutu and then seeing where you can build your confidence and go from there.

Flat shoes

If you spend all day walking around and all night partying in heels, then chances are that you are going to feel the burn. Bringing flip flops along with you, or any kind of comfy flat shoe can really stop your hen party from getting ruined, and it means that you can party for longer. This is honestly one of the most life changing decisions a girl can make. Forget suffering with achy feet, no longer do you have to walk barefoot through the streets after a long night of partying!
