Believe in Something Larger than Life!

You know that feeling you get when something happens and suddenly your senses start tingling and you think to yourself... Wow! I think that was supposed to happen because it was meant to.

I have quite often experienced these moments of awesomeness throughout my lifetime. I take great comfort in these moments and if you have read my book, Stairway to Awesomeness, you know that spiritually I’m a BIG believer in KARMA. Well, another one of these moments of awesomeness happened last night!

I hosted a cyber event on Facebook for my Stairway to Awesomeness giveaway extravaganza. During the event, one of my readers who has followed me for a while now, Shelley, posted this message:

“I think that Comic Strip Mama, I Speak Sparkle and Mommietime...have certainly made my days brighter....Each of you may not know what goes on in my everyday life...but ALL of you sure do make it brighter! Each of you are a Blessing!!!!”

“My sister is taking Chemo treatments for stage 4 Lung Cancer. She is my only sibling and almost 4 years younger than me...It breaks my heart to see her go through this...I take my day off on her first day of treatment every 4 weeks...That is her longest day of treatment...I always try to have things to keep us occupied....The kindle, the Ipod, puzzle books, food she can eat....There is always something posted from all of you that makes us smile or laugh...Thanks for the Blessings!!!”

Messages like this make my entire journey so worthwhile! I don’t know Shelley or her sister on a personal level and before last night I had absolutely no idea about her sister’s struggle with cancer. When I read this message from Shelley, it touched my heart and soul in more ways than one. I just recently lost a friend to cancer. She was only 34 and unfortunately she wasn’t given a chance to fight it. One of the three cancers she had was lung cancer. Now I’m hearing about someone else dealing with this devastating disease and I’m not going to lie, when I read the message, I thought to myself Wouldn’t it be nice if Shelley won my grand prize tonight?!  But, what are the chances? There were almost 1000 entries and I have absolutely no control over which entry Rafflecopter selects. All I do is click the “select a winner” button and voila! It randomly chooses a winner. And in all honesty, even if there was a way for me to “fix it”, which there is not, and tell Rafflecopter who to choose, I just wouldn’t cheat like that. Why? Because that would be asking for BAD KARMA!! Also, I would have been happy to announce ANYbody’s name who took the time to enter and I don’t play favorites... Period.

Well guess what? I clicked that select winner button for the grand prize and Shelley’s name appeared like it was meant to appear! “OMG! This is so awesome!” I exclaimed looking at my laptop. lol  Lover Man was watching TV on the couch and he looked over at me like I was a little bit crazy and asked me what was so awesome. So I explained the story to him and tears flooded my eyes. I had no control over this emotion. It was just so awesome and I was so excited to make the announcement in the event!

I know that some of you reading this may be rolling your eyes thinkin’ that it was just a pure coincidence that Shelley’s name was chosen, but that’s not what I choose to believe! I wholeheartedly believe that it was something larger than life that made that happen and I’m sticking to it! ;)

Congratulations again Shelley! This post is dedicated to you and your sister! Keep focusing on the positive, the blessings, the humor and the awesome in life.  <3
