Being Fearless, facing your fears, sounds great, but what does it all mean and how do you do it? How do you put aside all those little doubts, fears, false ideas that have resided for so long in your being. They have been your partner, by your side, since you started to talk and walk, they're like your comfortable sweat pants that you like to put on to relax around the house. You can't throw them away, just put them out in the trash. What will you wear when you want to get comfy! Just like those sweat pants, your fears and false ideas need to be retired for good. Don't pass them along to someone else, just trash them from your life.
What would happen if you just tried to do what you always wanted to do? Would the earth just open up and swallow you just like that. I use to tell my daughter that when she was small and was afraid to do or try something for fear of failure. She think about what I said and realize how irrational her fear and behavior was finally moving from fear to being fearless. Today my daughter is one of the most fearless people I know. She faced cancer without fear, knowing all the time that she was not giving cancer a life, her life. She accepted her diagnose without judgement or fear concentrating all her positive energy to getting through her treatment, moving forward, not letting anything stop her from getting better. She lives presently and fearlessly never expending any of her energy asking why her , she just lives with gratitude each and every day. She is my hero.
When ever I think about living fearlessly I think of my daughter and all the other people that I know or read about who are fearless, not matter what they have faced or has happened in to them, they effortlessly move on without giving it a thought. They don't get stuck in what has happen or in the why, they just accept, knowing that they can't change the situation, they can just control how they handle it. Stop for a second, just think, really what go does all the angst and drama do to help resolve a problem, actually those negative emotions work against moving forward, getting past your fears, they just keep you stuck, an emotional crazy glue holding you back from being your best, from being fearless, from living beautifully each and every day. Most importantly from being the director of your life not the person who takes direction. Being fearless means being in control of your life!
I tend to make things more difficult than they have to be, to think that it must be hard or complicated to be worthy of putting out my best effort. I've learned that is not necessarily the truth. The beauty and truth of life is in the ease of which you live your life. We humans complicate life with negative emotions, unwanted thought, irrational ideas, that have no place in living fearlessly and free.
I think what I have learned is that there is not mystery, or secret to living fearlessly, you just do! No tricks to getting there. Don't make it so hard all the time. Life flows easily, just look to nature for the truth. Spring comes, flowers just grow and open effortlessly. Streams just meander along without thinking about where they are going. It is only we humans, that were given the gift of thought, that let that gift become a burden, a hindrance, to living freely. Stop the chatter of your thoughts and be fearless! Put all that behind you, be fearless!
