It seems like almost everyone in the world has a Facebook profile. Once just thought of as a place for business contacts, Facebook has now blossomed to become a way to keep in touch with family and friends, a diary, blog, and website all in one. Facebook is a great place to advertise your business. That is after updating your status, and moving up a level in Farmville (level 37, thank you).
Though it has many good qualities Facebook if not used correctly, can be more of a distraction than a help. There are hundreds of applications to use, games to play, updates to read, things to share, and other ways of frittering the day away on it. However, if you own a business, run a non profit, or need to actually get other things done, there are ways to use Facebook to your advantage.
One of the best ways to use Facebook, is as a marketing tool. Even if you feel do not have a business to plug, you can always use the site to promote your ideas, thoughts or writings. Here are a few simple ways to do so.
To promote your business or cause, consider making a Facebook page for it. After longing on to your Facebook account, type “Create A Page” in the search bar. Click on the link that pops up, and you will be taken to a page where you can name your page.
Be sure to name the page after your business, or choose a name that reflects it. If you are a writer, artist, or any type of freelancer, use your own name. Choose wisely, because at the moment you cannot edit page names. Once your page is created, remember to post on it regularly, or you will soon start loosing fans.

You will have to add a code to your blog but don’t worry, the instructions will be provided. Then you will be able to post your blog to your Facebook profile. You will also be able to control what posts you want to share, so that you don’t overload your Facebook friends with all of your posts, however awe-inspiring they may be.
Mama Kat can tell you more about this here.
Facebook has shown to be a force to be reckoned with in social marketing. Business has become more about relationships, than selling something. It’s more about sharing something with your friends and neighbors, than with the customer across the world.
In short to market yourself you have to go where the people are, and right now the people are on Facebook. So get on there, make some new friends, share your best posts, and become a better business person. Oh, and harvest your crops, will ya? They’re dying over there.
Blessings, Peace, and Success!
