My name is Nichelle Stephens. When I first started blogging ten years ago, I was "Nichelle Newsletter". Some people even thought that "Newsletter" was my real last name. My blog was personal. It was about the things I did, the things I like and the occasional rant. Then I December of 2004, I started another blog about cupcakes and then in summer of 2005 I went to the first ever BlogHer conference. Since then I have started a personal finance blog, Keeping Nickels and a culture blog CoolBlkPpl.
I started blogging so that I would write more. Then later, blogging became an source of income, a way to get press passes and invitations and sometimes free stuff. Blogging has lead to many opportunities, but I don't actually write as much as I would like to. I figure that I will go back to basics and write here on my BlogHer blog. Recently, Adam of Amateur Gourmet wrote a post about food blogging. Adam wrote:
What I’m doing, in fact, is trying to recreate the feeling that my blog is a natural extension of myself, not a super polished beacon for my brand.
I am still blogging professionally on my web properties, but when I am not, I am going back to basics and will do so here on BlogHer. Hi everybody!
