In recent years, women in law have made advances in attaining workplace gender equality. Still, female attorneys only earn 87 percent of male attorneys’ salaries, and women continue to face inequality in the legal industry when it comes to growth opportunities and income.
@WashULaw’s online Master of Legal Studies program created an infographic to explain the issue at large and detail possible solutions. Firms can help narrow the disparities gap by implementing transparent compensation policies. Record keeping and information tracking should also expand and become more robust, clear succession plans should be established, and diversity—especially on the compensation committee—should increase. If such initiatives are pursued and developed, women should see further advances in workplace equality.
